Baptism Day

John Phillip is a Christian! He was baptized this Saturday and now has Jesus in his heart. He is a beautiful child of God and still smells sooo gooood from the oils used. :) The ceremony was beautiful and so special. Fr. Edward Bently, a newly ordained priest, was able to do a private mass and baptism for us. He is a close friend/spiritual director of Phil's and is responsible for the two of us meeting each other! We had some close friends also attend and step in as the Godparents since my sister Jana and Phil's brother John Michael were not able to attend. We will have a big party with them later.

John was a good little baby and didn't cry at all. He was awake for the first half like he new what was going on, just looking at me and Phil with big eyes. He looked so angelic in his baptismal gown, one that Phil had also worn when he was baptized. It was hard to hold back the joy, especially after seeing the biggest smile and excitement on Phil's face. Me and Phil also renewed our baptism with John Phillip. Maybe it's because it was our son that was being baptized, but the words Father read really hit home for me and Phil, more so than any other baptism we've attended. It was a beautiful day!

We wish our famies could have been there so badly. Here are a few pictures for you.

Visit with Uncle Patty

John loved meeting uncle Patrick! They had some good bonding time and he misses the music. :)

John Phillip says hello to his aunts and uncles!

Visits with Nana and Marmie! :D

It has been more than wonderful having my Mom and Phil's Mom come out to visit and help us get through these first days. We feel so lucky to have them spend this time with us and John Phillip. We will miss them so much! And little John will miss those arms!

IT'S A BOY! John Phillip: January 12, 2011, 6:54am, 20in., 7.3 lbs., and cute as a button.

He's finally here! We are so proud to announce the birth of our baby BOY!

January 12, 2011 will be a date forever embedded in our memory. After just filling up the bathtub, my water started to break at 10:30pm the night of January 11th, so we quickly gathered up our coats and jumped in the already packed car! So much for relaxing in the tub. We were so happy this was finally the real deal because I had a lot of contractions the weeks leading up to this. We started off our journey along the icy roads to the hospital with a quick McD’s coffee run. Shortly after arriving and confirming I was in fact in labor, the intensity began. Going through the labor and delivery process was definitely hard, especially with the baby being posterior. But I got through it with my Mom and Phil at my side encouraging me along the way, and clenching my rosary in my fist tighter than anything. The baby was posterior, but turned at the last moment before birth. Someone must have been praying hard! 7 hours after arriving to the hospital, what seemed to be 1,000 contractions later, but only three pushes, he literally slid out and we got to hold our baby for the first time! This experience was surreal and something I will cherish forever. Phillip was the one to tell me "it's a boy!" And we couldn't hold back the mass amount of tears as they put him on my chest, looking into his eyes for the first time, then looking at each other in disbelief. Life has never been so beautiful. I have never felt so close to heaven, feeling a kiss from my heavenly Father as baby John’s lips touched my cheek.

As Phil says, we already couldn't imagine life without him. He has already been such a joy to us. I've been waking up every morning with tears in my eyes (and puffy eyes) as I look at little John Phillip, overwhelmed with the love God has for me and my husband. He has planned this moment for us from the beginning of time. And it has in turn allowed us to experience the richness of marriage all the more fully. We are so thankful for this little angel and are so excited we get to be his parents! We feel so inadequate, but know God will guide us with His grace.

Recovery has been so easy with the help we have had. My Mom got here the night before I went to the hospital and stayed a week. Phil’s Mom got here the day after we got home from the hospital and is here till Wednesday. With their help, it’s made the transition into Motherhood so smooth and I haven’t had to do a thing except tend to my baby! I have also gained a lot of knowledge with their expertise. J We love having them here and are going to miss them a ton. John Phillip couldn’t be a better baby. He never cries unless he’s hungry or if you change his diaper. Most of the time we have to wake him up to eat. When’s he’s up he just stares at you and makes the cutest expressions. We can see a little bit of the both of us in him. All I know is his cheeks are going to be all the more kissable with the two dimples we discovered!

We have had so much fun with this little guy and look forward to keeping you posted on his life as well as ours. Here are some pictures!

Before it got intense. :)

Preparing for Baby

We got to spend a couple days with Auntie Ange before the baby arrived. She helped finish painting the baby room! Along with many other things, she was a big help and kept me distracted the days before going to the hospital. She came with us Monday night to the hospital when I thought I was going into labor, but had to go back home Tuesday evening right before I went in for the real deal! We were so sad she missed it, but little John knows who made his room look so good and can't wait to give her a kiss. :)
